International Institute of Field Studies presents Himalayan Retreat – Nepal. An opportunity to explore, experience and enjoy the Himalayan region of Nepal. Open to all individuals, the diversity of the group creates a lively and vibrant social atmosphere to adventure through the Himalayas. Embarking on its breath-taking landscapes, beautiful resorts and its unique culture, Himalayan Retreat will offer a memorable experience, one will never forget.

Activities include white water rafting in the Trisuli River, wildlife safari in Chitwan National Park, trekking to Annapurna Base Camp, paragliding in Pokhara and visits to several world heritage sites like Lumbini (birthplace of Lord Buddha), Pasupati Temple, Swayambhu, Boudha, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, etc.

DAY 1 (Sat Oct 15, 2016)  Depart Canada for Kathmandu, Nepal

DAY 2 (Sun Oct 16, 2016) International Travel

DAY 3 (Mon Oct 17, 2016) Arrival Kathmandu: Check-in Park Village Hotel and Resort

DAY 4 (Tue Oct 18, 2016)

Morning

9:00 am           Introduction of the overall program, dos and don’ts, question-answer session for site seeing, white water rafting, wildlife safari and trekking.

9:45 am           Introduction on Nepal’s history, geography, politics, religion, and culture – TBA.

Afternoon

  • Visit Swayambhu Nath (a Buddhist stupa) – World heritage site.
  • Patan Durbar square – World heritage site.
  • Tibetan refugee camp.

DAY 5 (Wed Oct 19, 2016):  Transfer to the point of rafting.  Full day of rafting.  Full board.  Camp overnight by the bank of Trisuli River (550 M) in Riverside Resort.

DAY 6 (Thu Oct 20, 2016):  Arrival at Chitwan National Park.  Wildlife safari – wildlife viewing (rhinocerous, tiger etc), natural walk, bird watching,

DAY 7 (Fri Oct 21, 2016):  Full day jungle activities: elephant ride to view the wildlife (rhino, tiger), natural walk, canoeing, bird watching, elephant bathing, and dinner with ethnic Tharu dance.

DAY 8 (Sat Oct 22, 2016): Departure for Pokhara.

  • On the way: Visit Forests Without Borders school nursery, plantation and improved stove distribution program supported by Forests Without Borders (CIF-Rocky Mountain Section, Alberta, Canada).
  • In Pokhara: Visit lake-side market
  • Dinner with Nepalese folk dance show

DAY 9 (Sun Oct 23, 2016):

  • International Mountaineering Museum
  • Peace Stupa
  • Canoeing in Fewa Lake
  • Afternoon free (preparation for trekking)

DAY 10 – 18 (Mon Oct 24 – Oct 31, 2016): Trekking to the Annapurna Base Camp. Overnight in tea houses.

DAY 10 (Mon Oct 24, 2016):  Drive to about two hours to Kande and begin trek to Landruk (1400 M).

DAY 11 (Tue Oct 25, 2016): Trek to Chomrong (2050 M).

DAY 12 (Wed Oct 26, 2016):  Trek to Dovan (2500 M).

DAY 13 (Thu Oct 27, 2016):  Trek to Deurali (3200 M).

DAY 14 (Fri Oct 28, 2016): Trek to Annapurna Base camp (4130 M).

DAY 15 (Sat Oct 29, 2016):  Trek to Bamboo (3100 M).

DAY 16 (Sun Oct 30, 2016):  Trek to Jhinu Danda (1710 M).

DAY 17 (Mon Oct 31, 2016):  Trek to New bridge/Nayapul.  Drive back to Pokhara.

Free day in Pokhara.
